Looking for a laptop thats got at least 160gb hard drive, is fast, good for homebased connectivity (and built in wifi) and can handle computer games with nice enough graphics, size and brand are not an issue (though i would prefer to not get a dell) and im hoping to spend under 500. any good ones you know of?

My dad had a tantrum and decide to break it. The screen is all cracked and what not, the top is cracked, and the disk drive is like hanging out of it. It’s a mess and it’s not fixable. So will I be able to remove the hard drive from it and recover my files? If so, would I have to put it in the same kind of Toshiba laptop or will I be able to put it in any computer and get my files?

its my first time buying a laptop so i’m really confused. is this worth the buy or not? thanks! 
Okay, here’s the deal. My girlfriend’s father replaced the hard drive from his ANCIENT Toshiba Sat Laptop with one from a Dell Laptop. Alot of the drivers seem to be having compatibility issues, and I was wondering if there is a conflict because the HD is from a different brand of laptop. Help me out here!
A while back my Toshiba Laptop shut off in the middle of a system restore and the hard drive got deleted. Now it doesn’t work anymore.
Ideally I’d like to get one for under 0.00, but I can spend more if really necessary. Also, what should I look for as far as RAM, GB, MB, Hard drive, etc. etc. I don’t know much about computers so if you could maybe shoot me some numbers on what would be good, and anything else I should look for/look out for.
