How do shut OFF the start up sound on my Toshiba laptop?

Every time I turn on my Toshiba laptop it makes a ‘ding ding’ (doorbell) sound. I’ve tried to track down and change the settings but have been unable to do so to date. Can someone please tell me how to turn this off ?

I always give clear answers , the answer here depends to when do you hear that sound ? If when windows start then go to sounds in control panel , search for windows startup sound and disable it , but if you hear the sound before windows starts then press f2 at the 1st screen appears , you intered settings , search for sound and disable it from there , and by the way you can control open/close lid sound from there too

Might be a messenger or email program that starts when windows does notifying that you have a message or email. If so you would have to change the setting in that program.

To check startup programs type msconfig in run and click OK then go to the Startup Tab

Or that has been set as your Start Windows sound
    Control Panel>Sounds and Audio>Sounds Tab
There you can choose what sounds windows uses for notifications and you can even turn off the annoying Navigation Click
