If your laptop has an HDMI port, all you need is that. There should be a slot on the back of the TV that says HDMI. Just connect the two and then make sure you are on the HDMI input.

to answer broccoli5467, my suggestion is: Because you use the headphone output 3.5mm (mp3, ipod, walkman player sized Stereo jack) to convert to the RCA Red and White (2 channels) left and right channels, and plug them into your front of any TV for sound, switching the TV to that source of input, it will of course play sound through both the laptop speakers and the TV until you mute the laptop by going…

(with XP) to control panel, sound and audio devices, device volume, advanced, mute pc speaker (mute pc speaker should do it) if not, try mute everything on the main page but that might stop sound from tv, 1st suggestion should do it

@broccoli5467 you cant hear it from the tv for all i know. you need to connect some speakers to your laptop. or use an dvi cable or something like that

my computer has a HDMI outlet… so i guess thats what i HAVE to use
